REBEL DIAZ
Rebel Diaz - the in-your-face trio out of Chicago mix strong political statements with their dynamic flow and character. As a performance group, Rebel Diaz came together in early 2006 when they were invited to perform their revolutionary music at the historic immigrant rights march in New York City, in front of 500,000 people.
This opportunity to speak to the masses began as a direct extension of their political work in the South Bronx, where they currently organize around immigration, education and housing issues.
Today, Rebel Diaz travels throughout the world performing and organizing, using Hip Hop as a tool for education and social change.

RodStarz is the future of Hip Hop. An MC that speaks the truth and challenges the system through his powerful bilingual lyrics. A Bboy raised in Chicago’s Golden Era, the era of bombed rooftops, the rebirth of breakdancing and boosted gear. He was born in Chertsey, England where his parents were living in exile after fleeing the CIA funded Pinochet dictatorship in their native Chile. He grew up on Chicago’s northside in Rogers Park influenced by his Chicago Champions and Norstarz family. That is where his name comes from, as they all were Starz that shined above the rest.
RodStarz is a combination of the rage of the children of rebellion, the swagger from Chicago’s hip hop scene and the optimism of the youth for a better tomorrow. Anybody that knows him knows he’s all jokes and good times until he gets on stage. That’s when he goes to battle. Hip Hop is his weapon, his pistola and his tool of war. When not performing he is in the South Bronx organizing the community around police brutality, immigrant rights and gentrification issues with el Movimiento La Pena del Bronx. He currently resides in Hunts Point, New York.

Born in Chicago to Chilean political exiles, G1 was immersed in Hip-Hop culture at an early age. Whether tagging along with his older brother's b-boy crew or writing and memorizing lyrics from classics by KRS and Ganagstarr, he was constatntly observing, creating, and adding his own flavor to the mix. A late 80s baby, G1 was heavily influenced by his parents' political work in Chicago during a time when the city was swelling with political refugees from the various neocolonial wars throughout Latin America.
At 15, he was sent to live in his parent native Chile as a result of his youthful indescretions in Chicago. It would prove to be one of the best decison of his life. In his parents' old Santiago neighborhood- where tin roofs keep the rain out and packs of stray dogs roam the street- he learned music production from local youth who shared his love for Hip-Hop. On one computer shared by the whole hood, G1 began his career as a producer, songwriter and engineer, crafting local hits with seminal Chilean Hip-Hop crew Faena Family. He returned to the States to form IL.DE.SCRIPT Productions with childhood homies JFree and Domi.D. They became known for a boombap style heavily influenced by Latin American folk music, creating a hard-hitting eclectic sound that still can be heard in their production today.
After his brother RodStarz returned from a similar trip to Chile a few years later, the two began working together, crafting bilingual songs filled with incisive social commentary over G1's cosmopolitan soundscapes.
In 2003, G1 moved to New York City to study production and engineering at NYU's famed Clive Davis Dept. of Recorded Music. Rodstarz joined him in New York a year later where the seeds for Rebel Diaz began to take hold. While working as a youth organizer and arts/activism consultant respectively, Rodstarz and G1 released Rodstarz' Desde El Lago Hasta El Mar Mixtape vol.1 and 2 to critical acclaim in the U.S. and Latin America. Lah Tere joined the brothers in 2005, and the Rebel Diaz movement was born.
The diverse sound that defines the Rebel Diaz style is a result of G1's many cultural influences, from South American folk to the Dirty South bounce; from East Coast boom bap to Chi-Town house. Today his production team IL.DE.SCRIPT- composed of himself, JFree, and New York native SamJones- is hard at work producing Rebel Diaz's debut full-length, along with tracks for M1 of dead prez, Boot Camp Click, and Junior Mafia.
